DALTON, Ga. — AstroTurf Corporation, the inventor of synthetic turf and a leader in high-performance sports surfacing, is proud to announce the addition of Erin Cosan as its new Director of Softball. In this role, Cosan will lead the strategic growth, development, and innovation of AstroTurf’s softball division, bringing a lifetime of experience as a player, coach, and data analyst to one of the sport’s most critical arenas: the field itself.
Cosan’s appointment represents a major step forward for AstroTurf’s commitment to serving the softball community with the highest quality playing surfaces. She will be responsible for working directly with coaches, athletic directors, architects, and field owners to deliver next-generation solutions designed to enhance athlete safety, optimize performance, and elevate the game experience.
Veteran Division I Coach, Fordham Hall of Famer, and MLB Data Analyst Joins Industry Leader to Advance the Future of Softball Facilities
A proven leader both on and off the field, Cosan joins AstroTurf after an extensive coaching career at both the Division I and Division III levels. She spent six seasons as the head coach at Saint Joseph’s University, guiding the Hawks to postseason success in the competitive Atlantic 10 Conference. Prior to SJU, Cosan led programs at Haverford College, Pacific Lutheran University, and John Carroll University, where she built winning cultures, captured multiple conference titles, and earned numerous NCAA Tournament berths.
In addition to her coaching success, Cosan spent over 12 years with Major League Baseball Advanced Media as a business intelligence engineer and data analyst, blending her on-field insights with a deep understanding of performance metrics, technology, and innovation. Her unique combination of practical coaching experience and analytical expertise positions her to bring a highly informed, athlete-first approach to softball facility development.
A standout player herself, Cosan earned NFCA Division III Second Team All-America honors at Cabrini before transferring to Fordham University, where she became a Verizon Academic All-American and the recipient of the prestigious Hobbs Family Award as the school’s top female athlete. She was inducted into the Fordham Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015, cementing her legacy as one of the university’s all-time greats.
Philip Snider, Chief Operating Officer of AstroTurf, expressed excitement about the impact Cosan will have on the brand and on the softball community at large:
“Erin brings a one-of-a-kind perspective to our team—she’s been a player, a coach, and a trusted analyst at the highest levels of the sport. Her lifelong passion for softball, combined with her technical expertise and leadership ability, will allow AstroTurf to further our mission of delivering the best fields in the game. Erin’s arrival marks an exciting new chapter for our softball division, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AstroTurf family.”
In her new role, Cosan will focus on helping programs of all sizes—from youth leagues to major universities—achieve their facility goals. Her work will center on matching each project’s unique needs with AstroTurf’s innovative technologies, delivering field systems that are not only beautiful and durable, but that also enhance safety, playability, and athlete development.
“I am excited to join the AstroTurf team and take on this new role,” said Cosan. “Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand how critical the playing environment is to an athlete’s performance, safety, and love for the game. I look forward to collaborating with coaches, players, and organizations across the country to create innovative solutions that will further enhance the game of softball.”
