AstroTurf Diamond Series Powers Rogers Centre Transformation as Blue Jays Unveil Lower Bowl Renovations

TORONTO, ON  |  AstroTurf.com  |  April 8th, 2024 AstroTurf is proud to celebrate its role in the remarkable renovation of Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays, as the stadium opens its doors for the 2024 home opener. The latest phase of improvements, including a fully reimagined 100-level seating area, modernized dugouts, premium fan spaces, and a new premium AstroTurf Diamond Series playing surface, are all part of the Blue Jays’ continued commitment to providing a first-class experience for fans and athletes alike.

This season also marks a significant milestone — 2024 is the 30th year the Toronto Blue Jays have played on AstroTurf. It’s been a long-standing partnership built on trust between the club and the leader in synthetic turf innovation. The transformation is part of the Rogers Centre’s transition from a multipurpose facility to a true baseball-first venue. With enhanced sightlines, increased legroom, additional cup holders, and closer proximity to the action, fans will enjoy a ballpark experience like never before.

Central to this renovation is the installation of AstroTurf’s Diamond Series — the most advanced synthetic baseball system on the market today.

The Diamond Series is engineered to deliver the most natural play possible, replicating the performance of natural grass and clay through a combination of proprietary fiber technology and innovative infill solutions. From true bounces to authentic sliding distances and natural ball speeds, the Diamond Series ensures consistent playability and maximized safety for athletes. Customization options allow clubs like the Blue Jays to create a home-field advantage that suits their unique style of play.

“The Diamond Series represents our dedication to innovation and excellence,” said Aaron Klotz, AstroTurf Director of Baseball. “We are honored to contribute to this iconic stadium’s next chapter and provide a field that reflects Major League standards in both performance and aesthetics.”

The Rogers Centre renovations, part of a nearly $400 million privately funded investment, required extraordinary precision and planning. More than 32 million pounds of materials were removed and recycled during the renovation, and over 6,500 cubic meters of concrete and 3.3 million pounds of structural steel were installed to reshape the ballpark’s lower bowl and fan amenities.

As the Blue Jays return home after a 10-game road trip to open the season, Rogers Centre is ready to welcome fans back to a dynamic and modernized baseball environment.
