Fresno State to Install State-of-the-Art Turf at Valley Children’s Stadium

FRESNO, Calif. Valley Children’s Stadium and Fresno State Athletics will receive a complete turf replacement ahead of the 2025 football season. The new AstroTurf field turf system will be installed this offseason, delivering a premier playing surface that matches the championship mindset of our student-athletes and the expectations of the Red Wave.

The new surface—AstroTurf’s Pro Woven Series 3DM60 with RootZone Technology—is a next-generation synthetic turf system designed to set the standard in safety, performance, and sustainability. This advanced woven turf offers unmatched durability, multi-directional play, and an optimized drainage system for consistent performance in all weather conditions. The field also features superior backing technology and patented weave patterns that significantly reduce fiber loss and maintenance.

Fresno State will be the only NCAA Division I institution in the country competing on this specific type of cutting-edge turf technology—a true first in collegiate athletics.

“Delivering a first-class game day experience for our student-athletes and fans starts with the field under our feet,” said Fresno State Director of Athletics Garrett Klassy. “This new turf reflects where we’re headed—not just as a football program, but as a department committed to excellence, innovation, and progress.”

The redesign will also feature a refreshed on-field look for the Bulldogs. The signature “Green V”—a long-standing tribute to the San Joaquin Valley—will be repositioned from the 25-yard lines to the end zones. This change aligns with updated NCAA guidelines permitting corporate logos on the field of play, opening the door for new revenue opportunities that will directly benefit Fresno State student-athletes.

“We remain fiercely committed to representing the Valley,” Klassy said. “This update isn’t about taking something away—it’s about finding every possible way to bring resources back into our program. With the evolving landscape of college athletics, we have a responsibility to maximize every revenue stream available to us so we can continue to invest in our student-athletes, facilities, and the future of Bulldog Athletics.”

This latest chapter deepens Fresno State’s long-standing relationship with AstroTurf, reinforcing a shared commitment to innovation and athlete-first design.

“Fresno State has always been a proud partner of AstroTurf,” said AstroTurf General Manager and proud Bulldog Foundation member Dominick Berarducci. “We’re thrilled to bring the most advanced woven turf system in the nation to Valley Children’s Stadium and to support the Bulldogs with a surface that reflects the same grit and excellence they bring to the field every day.”

Installation will begin at the end of the month and will be completed well in advance of the 2025 home opener.
