Bellflower, CA – A national high school football powerhouse is building a showcase stadium, and a global icon will take center stage. St. John Bosco, the 2016 Open Division California State Champions, have officially selected AstroTurf® as the playing surface for their new football stadium. The stadium is scheduled to open in summer of 2018.
When the new home of the Braves is ready to roll, it will feature AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 Blend turf system. This premium product is AstroTurf’s most popular stadium turf due to its combination of long-lasting performance and game day good looks. The RootZone 3D3 Blend integrates three unique fibers – the slit film, monofilament, and patented RootZone – into one cohesive system. Combined with a Brock Powerbase underlayment for ultimate shock absorbency, this field will deliver superior playability, safety, and durability.
“We want this new stadium to be on a level commensurate with our exceptional football program,” said Athletic Director Monty McDermott. “To that end it needs to have a top-of-the-line playing field, and we feel that AstroTurf gives us exactly that. ”
In addition to the AstroTurf surface, plans for the new football stadium call for a seating capacity of 5,000, a press box measuring 1,500 square feet, and a colonnade and plaza at the entrance. The new venue will also feature LED stadium lights, an LED video scoreboard, and an amplified sound system.
The new stadium is being constructed on the site of the old football stadium, which means that the football team played home games off campus and practiced on the soccer field this past year. That field just received a brand new AstroTurf surface, also a RootZone 3D3 Blend turf system. Since 2012, St. John Bosco has won four league titles in the uber-competitive Trinity League, two state championships, and the team was voted the 2013 National Champions by both MaxPreps and USA Today. In addition, the Braves have racked up 12 first team All-Americans, 18 first team All-State and 82 first team All CIF players. Furthermore, in 2018, St. John Bosco will have 44 players playing on college football rosters.
