AstroTurf® Names Charlie Doherty Regional Manager for New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island
NEW JERSEY — AstroTurf® has announced the hiring of Charlie Doherty as Regional Manager for New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island, adding an experienced sports surfacing professional with deep industry knowledge and decades of perspective in the synthetic turf market. Doherty has worked across several major sports surfacing companies throughout his career, giving him a practical understanding of product performance, customer needs, installation demands, and the long-term factors that separate an average field from a great one.
Doherty brings a rare full-market perspective to AstroTurf. He has seen the industry from multiple sides, working with schools, municipalities, athletic departments, contractors, and sports facility decision-makers as they evaluate the surfaces that will serve their athletes and communities. That background gives him a clear understanding of what customers are really looking for: trusted guidance, honest product education, dependable project execution, and a field system built to perform long after installation day.
His experience also connects to one of the most important evolutions in the synthetic turf industry: the growth of organic infill. Organic infill first gained traction in the United States, and Doherty played a meaningful role in helping move that category forward, becoming the first to sell, distribute, and install organic infill from the East Coast to the West Coast and into Canada.
That perspective matters as AstroTurf continues to expand its portfolio of modern turf systems and infill solutions. Today’s customers are asking more detailed questions about surface temperature, playability, system durability, maintenance, safety, environmental impact, and total cost of ownership. Doherty understands those conversations because he has helped lead them across multiple markets and product categories. His background positions him to help customers evaluate not just the turf itself, but the complete system beneath the athlete.
As Regional Manager for New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island, Doherty will work with schools, municipalities, park and recreation departments, athletic directors, architects, and community leaders as they plan new synthetic turf projects and facility upgrades. His role will focus on helping customers understand their options, match the right system to their field’s use, and build surfaces that support athletes, programs, and communities over the long term.
“I’m excited to join AstroTurf and represent a brand that has helped define the synthetic turf industry,” said Charlie Doherty, Regional Manager for New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island at AstroTurf®. “After years in this business, I know how important it is for customers to have a partner they can trust. A great field starts with understanding the needs of the athletes, the facility, and the community. I’m looking forward to working with schools, towns, and organizations across the region to help deliver surfaces that perform at a high level and provide lasting value.”
With Doherty joining the team, AstroTurf continues to strengthen its presence in the Northeast and expand its customer-focused sales organization. His hiring brings another experienced, knowledgeable voice to the company — one who understands the history of the turf industry, the direction of modern system innovation, and the importance of helping customers choose the right surface for the future of their programs.
