Redwood High school and Liberty High School in California will be among the first programs in the nation to adopt our complete Layered Defense System, bringing together the Guardian Pad, AstroTurf RootZone®, Guardian TPE infill, and AstroTurf Guardian Caps. From the ground up to the helmet, every layer is designed with the athlete in mind. 

At the surface level, the system begins with the exclusive AstroPad by Guardian Sports, engineered to add a critical layer beneath the turf system. A quality pad helps support shock absorption, surface consistency, and long-term field performance, giving athletes a more stable foundation through repeated impact and high-speed movement. In football, where every play involves force, contact, acceleration, and change of direction, the layers below the turf matter just as much as the fibers above it. 

The next layer is AstroTurf’s RootZone® 3D system, a modern football surface designed for the speed and physicality of today’s game.
