MICHIGAN — AstroTurf Great Lakes has announced the hiring of Jeff Kosin as Sales Manager for Michigan, adding a respected athletic administrator with nearly three decades of experience in education, athletics, facility operations, event management, and student-athlete support.
Kosin joins AstroTurf Great Lakes after 27 years in education, including the last 10 years as Athletic Director at Clarkston High School within Clarkston Community Schools. In that role, he oversaw a large and active athletic department, including 33 varsity sports, while working closely with coaches, administrators, families, student-athletes, and community partners on the daily needs and long-term direction of the program.
His background gives AstroTurf Great Lakes another leader who understands athletic facility decisions from the school side. As an athletic director, Kosin managed budgets, coordinated schedules across multiple sports, oversaw athletic facilities, supported event operations, ensured compliance with MHSAA regulations, and hosted league tournaments as well as MHSAA postseason district and regional tournaments. That experience gives him a direct understanding of the pressure schools face when balancing safety, maintenance, budgets, scheduling, and future facility planning.
“After 27 years in education, including the last 10 as an Athletic Director at Clarkston Community Schools, I’m excited to begin a new professional chapter with AstroTurf Great Lakes,” said Jeff Kosin, Michigan Sales Manager for AstroTurf Great Lakes. “As an Athletic Director, I had the privilege of serving student-athletes, coaches, families, and the school community while overseeing 33 varsity sports and working closely with coaches, administrators, and community partners on a wide range of athletic and facility initiatives.”
Kosin’s move into the sports surfacing industry is a continuation of the work he has already spent his career doing: supporting athletes and helping schools create better environments for competition, training, and community pride. His experience in facility management, fundraising, scheduling, compliance, event operations, and school leadership positions him to guide Michigan schools through the same kinds of decisions he once had to make himself.
“Those 10 years on the school side of athletics gave me a firsthand understanding of the challenges athletic departments and school districts face when it comes to facilities, budgets, maintenance, safety, and long-term planning,” Kosin added. “I’m excited to take that experience and use it to help schools and communities across Michigan develop safe, high-quality athletic environments that meet the needs of today’s student-athletes.”
As Sales Manager for Michigan, Kosin will work with schools, municipalities, athletic departments, park and recreation leaders, and community organizations as they evaluate synthetic turf projects and facility upgrades. His role will focus on helping customers navigate the planning process, understand their options, and develop surfaces built around the real demands of modern athletics.
“This new chapter is a continuation of my commitment to athletics, not a departure from it,” Kosin said. “After spending a decade advocating for student-athletes and helping build a successful athletic program, I now have the opportunity to help other athletic departments turn their facility goals into reality.”
Kosin also brings a broad coaching and education background to the position. Before serving as athletic director, he held leadership roles as an assistant principal and dean of students, taught language arts and history, and coached multiple sports, including football, basketball, golf, baseball, and track. That full-school perspective gives him a strong understanding of how athletic facilities impact not only teams, but the wider school community.
“I may be retiring from the daily responsibilities of being an Athletic Director, but I’m definitely not retiring from athletics,” Kosin said. “I’m excited for what’s ahead with AstroTurf Great Lakes and look forward to helping schools across Michigan create athletic facilities their students and communities can be proud of.”
With Kosin joining the team, AstroTurf Great Lakes continues to strengthen its presence across Michigan with leaders who understand the needs of schools from the inside. His experience as an athletic director, educator, coach, and facility decision-maker will help customers approach projects with confidence, clarity, and a focus on long-term value for athletes and communities.
