Battle at Bristol

The countdown is on… With under 100 days until kickoff, the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol is gearing up to be a major event. On Thursday, June 2, representatives from the Battle at Bristol had the honor of ringing the New York Stock Exchange’s opening bell to celebrate the 100 day mark.

The largest college football game in history is expected to exceed the current record for largest attendance (115,109 spectators, which was set at Michigan Stadium for Michigan-Notre Dame in 2013). The Virginia Tech will take on the Tennessee on September 10, 2016 at their halfway point—Bristol Motor Speedway. Bristol Motor Speedway will also host an all-star lineup of Kenny Chesney, The Band Perry, and Old Dominion the night before.

Transitioning the venue from a NASCAR track to a football stadium will be no easy task, with a tight time frame and tricky logistics. Fortunately, the Battle at Bristol is in good hands. AstroTurf will install a state-of-the-art playing surface in the track’s infield. Despite the unusual setting, AstroTurf will have no trouble getting the field game-ready for the Hokies and the Vols.
