ALLIANCE, Ohio — When the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders began searching for a new company to upgrade its practice field to artificial turf, they turned to the leading innovator in the industry – AstroTurf.

The project is vital to Mount Union as it will provide an all-sports practice facility for all Mount Union students. As part of the 116,000-square-foot project, the field will be lined for football and soccer but will be used by all of Mount Union’s Athletic Programs. Next to the field will be a special area lined with extra markings for players to conduct drills and participate in small group sessions. The on-campus field is next to Mount Union Stadium, which was built in 1913 and has the title of the oldest college football stadium in Ohio.
The Mount Union football team is a juggernaut, having won 13 Division III National Championships and 28 Ohio Athletic Conference titles. From 1992 through 2015, the Purple Raiders won an astounding 24 straight conference titles. Mount Union holds the NCAA football record for consecutive victories with 55. That amazing run was set from 2000 to 2003.
