AstroTurf® on Display at SOZO Sports’ Field Day

The brand that pioneered the artificial turf industry will be showcased at Washington State’s newest multi-sport complex. SOZO Sports Complex opens its fields this weekend, and Yakima Valley’s latest attraction will feature two athletic fields from AstroTurf®. Installation of the state-of-the-art synthetic turf was completed last week ahead of the facility’s grand opening Field Day scheduled on July 30th.

The two artificial turf fields at SOZO Sports Complex will be surfaced with approximately 161,000 square feet of AstroTurf Q synthetic turf system. The AstroTurf Q product line is comprised of a blend of high micron monofilament fibers (for ball response and aesthetics) and slit film fibers (for extreme durability).  The result is a durable, high-performance, premium artificial playing surface.

“We’re extremely pleased with our new AstroTurf athletic fields,” said Kerry Martin, President of SOZO Sports. “They represent an important part of bringing a world-class multi-sport venue to central Washington.”

Coast to Coast Turf, a Certified AstroTurf Distributor headquartered in Spokane, handled installation of the artificial playing surfaces. Both fields are lined for soccer and men’s and women’s lacrosse.

SOZO Sports Complex opens to the public on Saturday, July 30th. The grand opening Field Day event takes place between 10am and 4pm local time and will include food, fun and free clinics for soccer, lacrosse, football and first tee.
